Book a Complimentary Trial Lesson

The first lesson, arranged · Thornhill, Richmond Hill, Innisfil, Toronto & online

Every student at our academy starts the same way: a complimentary thirty-minute lesson in our Thornhill, Richmond Hill, Innisfil, Toronto studio or online.

The trial is a focused introduction to our approach to classical training. Our teachers listen, observe and begin shaping a clear path for the student’s technical and musical development. The lesson also allows the student and family to experience the teacher’s style directly, where rapport and thoughtful guidance matter far more than a biography can convey.

How it works

I

Tell us about the student

Their age, the instrument they are curious about, and anything they have played before. If they have never played anything at all, say that!

II

We match you with a teacher

We reply with the teacher we think is right, a suggested lesson length, and times that work. Every instrument here is taught by a specialist who performs on it professionally.

III

Come and play

Thirty minutes, complimentary, in the studio or online. Afterwards, you decide — and so do we. If we are not the right fit for you, we will tell you.

What happens in the trial

It is a lesson, not an audition. We want to meet you where you are, hear your goals, and spend most of the half hour actually playing rather than talking about playing. A complete beginner will leave having made a sound on their new instrument, and feeling confident with their next steps.

By the end you should have a clear answer to three questions: what you need to work on first, how long a weekly lesson should be, and whether this is a teacher you will want to see every week for the next few years. That last one matters most!

Before you arrive...

Do I need to own an instrument?
Bring one if you have it. If you are still deciding whether to buy or rent, come anyway and ask — sizing a child correctly and knowing what is worth spending is exactly the kind of thing worth a conversation before you commit.
How young can a student start?
Piano can begin around four, violin and cello around six. Readiness varies far more than age does, which is part of what a trial lesson helps determine.
Is there an upper age limit?
No! We teach adults who are starting from nothing, and adults returning after decades away with the same professional dedication and expertise.
What is the set-up for an online trial?
A stable connection, and the camera placed so the teacher can see both hands and the instrument — usually from the side rather than head-on. If you're not sure, just ask us to walk you through the set-up beforehand.
What does it cost after the trial?
Lessons run 30, 45 or 60 minutes, weekly or biweekly. Rates are quoted on enquiry and depend on the program you choose. We will tell you honestly which length we think fits after the trial lesson.

Not sure which instrument? That is a perfectly good reason to get in touch. Tell us the student’s age and what draws them to music, and we will suggest where to start — including the possibility that it is not one of the three we teach.
